Mens Team Tennis August end of season update
Gents,
thanks for your participation, sweat, tears and technique during this season.
Lymm has enjoyed an overall good season and you’ve contibuted to that.
In the Dunlop Warrington and District League the 1st team finished runners-up to Lane1. The 2nd team had a healthy season and finished 5th. The 3rd team and 4th teams were relegated from Division 2 disappointingly. The 5th team WON Division 4. The 6th team assisted the 5th team in Division 4 by picking up valuable points and staying in the division. The 7th team finished sixth and the 8th team finished fifth in Divisions 5 and 6 respectively.
In the Slazenger North East Cheshire League, the 1st team narrowly missed promotion and finished 3rd in Division 1. The 2nd team WON promotion by finishing second in Division 5. The 3rd team had another good season and finished second in Division 6b.
So some really strong performances and quite a lot of flexibility needed this season as we had less players to select from.
We’ll take stock and look at the 2011 season to plan for 2012.
Once again, thank-you for representing Lymm and I hope that you’ve enjoyed competitive tennis in 2011.

Mens Team Tennis mid season update
Gents,
we’re just over the halfway point of the Mens Team Tennis season and I wanted to take just a few moments of your time.

This season was going to be challenging due to the loss of players from the top group of the squad from last year. This has had a drain on our playing resources which has been added to by injuries and work schedules. This year, I’ve needed flexibility within the ranks to try to position Lymms strengths to achieve the best results that we can. We’ve also had some benefit of new players & some juniors and seniors progressing through to new tennis levels.

At the time of writing :-

the 1st team is top of Division1
2nds are 2nd in Division2
3rds are mid table in Division 2
the 4ths are 2nd from bottom in Division2,
5th are top of Division 4
6ths are 8th in Division 4
7th are 6th in Division 5
8ths are 5th in Division 6

We have the home straight in sight and it’s important to stay fit, enjoy your tennis and pick up the points that your team needs to stay on track.

If you’ve represented Lymm in different teams this season then thank-you for your help and flexibility. It’s been a real help to try to move forwards.

And once again, I’d like to say do enjoy your competitive tennis while it’s going on. I’m sure we’ll all miss it when the winter gets to us!

All the Very Best

Mens’ Team Tennis April 14th Message
Gentlemen,
We’re at the start of the 2011 Team Tennis season and it’s going to be a tough competitive season ahead.
We’re blessed with a wide and deep array of talent, athletic ability and matchplay know-how on top of a growing group of members who are available.
This week, we’re blending 84 team names into 42 team places to go into Warrington League matchplay. For those without places this week, I’m sure you’ll get your chance soon. For those lucky enough to be selected to play, your only objective is to win. If you’ve been selected, it’s because we think YOU CAN WIN.
Best of luck to everyone and enjoy your tennis.

Mens’ Team Tennis 2011
Welcome to the 2011 season of Men’s tennis at Lymm Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club.
We had a sensational season last year. All Men’s teams used fixed doubles partnering and improved interplay and performed very well. Success was carried over into the Mixed season too in what turned out to be Lymms most successful season ever.
For 2011, the objective is to consolidate the current divisional positions of our teams and seek competitiveness in the 5th and 6th teams in the Warrington League, & push the 2nd team in the NECTL for a better place finish than last year. Around the club, I can see the efforts put into their tennis by everyone. A welcome sight and I know that will help prepare for the season ahead.
This year we will need to maximise the flexibility of our doubles partnerships, keep ourselves fit and use our club coach to talk through ways in which we can maximise our doubles play strengths and maximise on our opponents weaknesses – whilst still playing the game with a sporting spirit.
Captains for this year are as follows:
Warrington League
1st Team Squad – Mike David
2nd and 3rd and 4th Team Squad – Steve Dawber
5th and 6th Team Squad – Liam O’Callaghan
7th and 8th Team Squad – Martin Dunkley
North East Cheshire League
1st Neil Gwilliam 2nd John Sullivan 3rd John Eaton
Let me close by wishing everyone good health for a successful season and talk to your squad captains to talk tennis.
Good Health & Good Hitting
Mike

A Happy New Year to you
Hello and Welcome to 2011
It was a great season last year and some successful standards have been set to try to match this year. We’ve a little time until the season begins so we can use the time to finalise on technique, work on fitness and pursue our desired partners…….for doubles tennis!
